Care Communities
Nationally, 50% of foster families quit after the first year or after their first placement, primarily because they didn’t feel supported. The Care Communities model has been proven to retain up to 90% of those foster parents.
A Care Community is a group of 4-8 people/households who come around a foster family to support them. Care Communities members volunteer 1-2 times per month by providing meals, helping with childcare, mentoring, transportation, household duties, and other practical support as needed.
