WARNING:
Parents... a time will come when you and your teenager will need another adult in their lives besides you. We can help.

Did you know MCC trains small group leaders to champion the lives of teenagers and parents?

We believe there is a huge value for parents to have a trusted leader in the lives of their students as they grow up. Sometimes it's hard for a teenager to tell their parent everything, but we want to make it easy for parents to have someone to bridge the gap

How can a small group leader at MCC bridge the gap?

It's someone who cares about students. Someone who is saying the same thing that parents say. Someone who has been down the road of adolescence and can look back and say, "you need to watch out for this and make sure you go in that direction." Someone who can follow up with a parent when necessary to help with students when they need it most.

How can a parent at MCC bridge the gap?

A couple of things to consider...

1 - Don't take it personally.
You won't always be the one your child runs to as they get older, so help widen the circle of influence with people you can trust.

2 - Don't be too proud.
Give your teenager permission to express themselves in a safe place like MCC, even if it feels a little awkward. It's better for a trained and responsible leader at MCC who cares about your family have insider information than someone who doesn't. Choose to be more concerned about what your teenager needs than about how you look as a parent. We all want to be better parents. And that takes other people to help you influence the faith of your child.

One of the greatest values of our church is it's potential to provide community for our teenagers and parents. We want teenagers and parents to know MCC is a place they can show up and be safe, a place where they can have meaningful dialogue with another trusted adult, and a place where they can ask difficult questions.

Let MCC help you bridge the gap!

We're all in this together. Talk with our ministry staff about meeting your student's small group leader today!

Ministry Coordinators

Our Ministry Coordinators ensure that every Small Group Leader is engaged, equipped and empowered to lead and that students are excited to return each week.

Small Group Leaders

Our SGLs invest in the lives of a few students to encourage authentic faith. SGLs help students have meaningful interactions during group that deepen their faith in Jesus and influence their relationships with others. If you’re interested in becoming a champion for students at MCC, please email Jim Pendleton at jimp@mccth.org to get started!
