A little about Scot…
Started working at MCC: 1994
Favorite Scripture Verse: I John 1:9
Favorite Movies:
- Cool Runnings (Little known fact: When I watch them carry the sled across the finish line, I cry like a baby; EVERY TIME.)
- Christmas vacation. (Sometimes my brother and I have entire conversations with nothing but quotes from the movie)
- Titanic. The first time I saw this movie I left the theatre with a deep sense of grief. That’s the sign of a great movie. Same with Shindler’s List. Wow.
Favorite Books:
- The Bible (you would expect this from a Pastor, right?)
- My Journal entries (it’s the story God is writing into my life, and he is a great writer)
- Axiom, Hybels
- Communicating for a Change, Stanley
- Radical, Platt. This book is currently making my brain hurt
- Anything by Carl Hiaasen. Dude cracks me up
Favorite Music: Need to Breath, early Delirious, and when I am flipping the stations, I run between urban, talk, and country
Most Embarrassing Moment: Just one? How about . . .
Attendant to me, “Um yes, in Australia, we call them ‘roll aways.’”
My journey with Christ: I was in and out of church when I was young but became a serious follower of Jesus when I was in Middle School. I was baptized and attended a great little church on 7th street called Maryland Community Church :> I met a fantastic group of people who accepted me. The rest, as they say, is history. I am fortunate to serve in the same church where I met Christ (and my wife). My journey with Christ has not always been pretty but he has made it amazing (and keeps getting better).
Favorite Food: Meat. Medium rare. Please.
Dream Vacation:
- I would take Mariah to Africa to visit friends and work with kids.
- I would take Madison to Europe (she is dying to see the Eiffel tower and the Roman ruins)
- I would take Steph on a long Caribbean cruise followed by a trip to New Zealand.
- Me? I would like to ride (not captain) a catamaran from California to Hawaii. I think the solitude and isolation would take me to a place I have never been.
When I grow up I want to be: Not planning on growing up. Next question please.
If I were a super hero my super power would be: To never have to use the bathroom (it inhibits my productivity).
What are your hobbies/interests:
- I am a SCUBA diver and love to explore shipwrecks, coral reefs, and wildlife. I have dived (yes that is the correct term) with sharks, sting rays, and my brother Darel.
- I’m a fan of the Ford Mustang. Don’t start trash talking about how Chevy or Mopar is all that. If you must continue on, we can settle it on the track. Long live Carroll Shelby.
- Although currently “between motorcycles,” I am a fan. Shiny and fast, or just fast.
- I love to travel and experience new cultures. We have designed our lifestyle to be able to do some of that.
- Running. More of a necessary evil than a passion.
