FIFTH SUNDAY OFFERING: Sunday, August 31  A long-term historical goal of Maryland Community Church has been to be free of a mortgage. We have paid of 2 mortgages early, and plan to do the same with the current mortgage. To accomplish this task, our 5th Sunday Offering is dedicated to the principal of the mortgage, not the mortgage payment. In applying additional funds to the mortgage, we can reduce the interest over time, and reduce the number of payments required. Please feel free to give as you are able above and beyond your current tithe to MCC.

CITY-WIDE SERVICE: Sunday, August 31  The next city-wide worship event will be on Sunday, August 31 at 6 pm at First Baptist Church. This is a wonderful opportunity where people from all backgrounds and denominations come and worship together as the Body of Christ. Don’t miss it!

“HIGH-FIVE” FOR KIDS: On Tuesday, September 2 you can be a part of history! Join the United Way at the Hulman Center, where they will be attempting to break the world record for the “Longest High-Five Chain.” The doors will open at 3:30 pm and they will attempt to break the record at 4:30 pm. The current record is only 1,391 people.

3.0 CANOE TRIP: Saturday, September 6  If you are a 30-something single, please join us for a Saturday on the water! CUISINE QUEENS: Wednesday, September 10 at 6 pm  A fun evening is being planned for the Cuisine Queens! We will meet at the Terre Haute Country Club on Wednesday, September 10 at 6 pm. SERVE AT THE BLUES AT THE CROSSROADS: September 12 & 13  Each year MCCers serve by working the gates at the “Blues at the Crossroads” festival in Terre Haute. We are able to help move people One Step Closer to Christ by having a physical presence at one of the largest events in our city. Volunteers serve in 2 or 2.5 hour slots and will receive a FREE ticket to the event along with a FREE MCC t-shirt. Stop by the table in the atrium to sign-up beginning Sunday, August 17.


MCC Prayer Cabin

MCC PRAYER CABIN SPECIAL OFFERING: Sunday, September 14  On September 14 we will take up a special offering to cover the cost of constructing our MCC Prayer Cabin. The prayer cabin will serve as a quiet place for prayer, study and reflection. Even though it is partially constructed, some people have already been using the cabin for powerful meetings with God. Located in the woods behind the church, this cabin will stand for years to come, serving as a place where hundreds of thousands of prayers are offered. The people of MCC are providing labor and much of the material has been donated. We still need approximately $11,000 to complete the project.

MCC CONNECT ROOM: What’s the next step in your spiritual journey? Becoming a Christian? Baptism? Joining a C-Group? Serving? Learning how to better understand the Bible? Prayer? Whatever it may be, stop by the Connect Room (located right off the atrium) and explore the next step in your journey.

HEALING ROOM: Next scheduled Healing Room will be on Wednesday, September 3 from 6 – 8 pm in the MCC Prayer RoomContact Connie Elkins or Roberta Adams with any questions. This is a time to receive ministry for various healing needs. The Healing Room is held in the MCC Prayer Room.

BINGO NIGHT AT SOUTHWOOD: Monday, August 18  Join us on the third Monday of each month at 7 pm at Southwood Health & Rehabilitation Center (2222 E Margaret Ave.). HELP FEED THE HUNGRY IN THE WABASH VALLEY: Check out the Bag Hunger station in the Cause Corner each Sunday to donate food to the local 14th & Chestnut Food pantry. Summer is a time where food pantries often need the most help, as donations are low and kids are out of school. To participate in Bag Hunger, all you need to do is take a plastic bag from the Cause Corner, purchase the items on the list provided on the bag and bring it back the next time you are at church. We then have volunteers who transport the food from the church to the food pantry. Contact Jody Pomfret at to learn more.

DONATIONS OF MEDICAL SUPPLIES NEEDED: Medical supply donations are needed for the Nurses 4 the Nations Medical Trip in September. Items needed include Band-Aids, non-latex gloves, ibuprofen, multi-vitamins, petroleum jelly, thermometers, toothbrushes, toothpaste, etc. A full list is available at the marked barrel containers in the atrium. MCC has a group just for you called PYK that has a variety of activities throughout the year, such as a drive-in movie night, play-dates at the park, and so much more! PYK (Parents of Young Kids) GYM DAYS: The PYK group meets at the church in the gym on Tuesdays from 10:30 am – 12:00 pm. This is great for anyone wanting to chat with other moms and let their kids run around and play!
