SIGN-UPS FOR C-GROUPS START THIS WEEK! We do groups because we believe you can’t do life alone. C-groups are a great way to find community and make big church feel small. Sign-ups for C-groups begins Sunday, August 24 for the Fall teaching series “Soul Awakening” and we want everyone to be a part of it. Pastor Scot will lead a great study on going deeper in our walk with Christ. We would love to have everyone involved in a group when we kick-off on September 7. Another opportunity to Move One Step Closer to Christ is to sign-up for a C-Class. For more information on C-groups, contact Dan Gisel at email@example.com.
SIGN-UPS FOR C-CLASSES START THIS WEEK! Another way to Move One Step Closer to Christ is by signing up for a C-Class. Classes are September 11 – November 6 at MCC with childcare being provided for Birth-5th grade. For questions concerning C-Classes please contact Vince McFarland at firstname.lastname@example.org.

FAMILY WORSHIP NIGHT: Wednesday, August 27 at 6:30 pm Calling all STUDENTS, PARENTS, LEADERS AND POTENTIAL VOLUNTEERS! We are kicking off the school year with one BIG shin-dig! This is the place that we unveil all the exciting things happening throughout the school year, ways to get involved as volunteers, and ways for students to get plugged in. There is LOTS to know, so this “meeting” is important for you to attend if you want to be “in-the-know.” Family Worship Night will be Wednesday, August 27 at 6:30 pm in the Student Ministries area. For more information, please contact Jim Pendleton at firstname.lastname@example.org.
MCC STUDENTS MISSION SATURDAY: Next Steps Ministries have recently purchased a new house for their recovery program and need some help in the remodeling process. Sign up for the project in the student area. We will meet at the new house at 9 am and finish up at 1 pm. For more information contact Jim Pendleton at email@example.com.
FIFTH SUNDAY OFFERING: Sunday, August 31 A long-term historical goal of Maryland Community Church has been to be free of a mortgage. We have paid of 2 mortgages early, and plan to do the same with the current mortgage. To accomplish this task, our 5th Sunday Offering is dedicated to the principal of the mortgage, not the mortgage payment. In applying additional funds to the mortgage, we can reduce the interest over time, and reduce the number of payments required. Please feel free to give as you are able above and beyond your current tithe to MCC.
CITY-WIDE SERVICE: Sunday, August 31 The next city-wide worship event will be on Sunday, August 31 at 6 pm at First Baptist Church. This is a wonderful opportunity where people from all backgrounds and denominations come and worship together as the Body of Christ. Don’t miss it!
“HIGH-FIVE” FOR KIDS: On Tuesday, September 2 you can be a part of history! Join the United Way at the Hulman Center, where they will be attempting to break the world record for the “Longest High-Five Chain.” The doors will open at 3:30 pm and they will attempt to break the record at 4:30 pm. The current record is only 1,391 people.

SERVE AT THE BLUES AT THE CROSSROADS: September 12 & 13 Each year MCCers serve by working the gates at the “Blues at the Crossroads” festival in Terre Haute. We are able to help move people One Step Closer to Christ by having a physical presence at one of the largest events in our city. Volunteers serve in 2 or 2.5 hour slots and will receive a FREE ticket to the event along with a FREE MCC t-shirt. Stop by the table in the atrium to sign-up beginning Sunday, August 17.
MCC PRAYER CABIN SPECIAL OFFERING: Sunday, September 14 On September 14 we will take up a special offering to cover the cost of constructing our MCC Prayer Cabin. The prayer cabin will serve as a quiet place for prayer, study and reflection. Even though it is partially constructed, some people have already been using the cabin for powerful meetings with God. Located in the woods behind the church, this cabin will stand for years to come, serving as a place where hundreds of thousands of prayers are offered. The people of MCC are providing labor and much of the material has been donated. We still need approximately $11,000 to complete the project.
MCC CONNECT ROOM: What’s the next step in your spiritual journey? Becoming a Christian? Baptism? Joining a C-Group? Serving? Learning how to better understand the Bible? Prayer? Whatever it may be, stop by the Connect Room (located right off the atrium) and explore the next step in your journey.
HEALING ROOM: Next scheduled Healing Room will be on Wednesday, September 3 from 6 – 8 pm in the MCC Prayer Room. Contact Connie Elkins or Roberta Adams with any questions. This is a time to receive ministry for various healing needs. The Healing Room is held in the MCC Prayer Room.

BINGO NIGHT AT SOUTHWOOD: Monday, August 18 Join us on the third Monday of each month at 7 pm at Southwood Health & Rehabilitation Center (2222 E Margaret Ave.). HELP FEED THE HUNGRY IN THE WABASH VALLEY: Check out the Bag Hunger station in the Cause Corner each Sunday to donate food to the local 14th & Chestnut Food pantry. Summer is a time where food pantries often need the most help, as donations are low and kids are out of school. To participate in Bag Hunger, all you need to do is take a plastic bag from the Cause Corner, purchase the items on the list provided on the bag and bring it back the next time you are at church. We then have volunteers who transport the food from the church to the food pantry. Contact Jody Pomfret at email@example.com to learn more.
DONATIONS OF MEDICAL SUPPLIES NEEDED: Medical supply donations are needed for the Nurses 4 the Nations Medical Trip in September. Items needed include Band-Aids, non-latex gloves, ibuprofen, multi-vitamins, petroleum jelly, thermometers, toothbrushes, toothpaste, etc. A full list is available at the marked barrel containers in the atrium. Donations can be dropped off at that same location. For more information, please contact Sara Maesch at firstname.lastname@example.org
